Casino Playing Techniques and Different Roulette Variations

Payout rates will also depend on whether the player places single bets (red, black, even, odd, passe, or manque), double bets (12’s or columns), or numbers bets from 1-5.


•    European Roulette – a slightly less popular variation, though nearly identical to American roulette, but for one minor difference; there’s no double zero slot. This gives a huge house advantage in the sense that the small point cuts the house edge from 5.26% to 2.63%.

•    French Roulette – this offers good odds and a relatively low house advantage. This has two types of outside bets: dozen and even-money bets. This is the most complex variation to be played. Better be an expert with the other variations before playing this.

•    Roulette Royale – a rare variation but a good one. Same with European roulette but has a progressive jackpot similar to a slot machine. The jackpot can only be won if the same number hits 5 times in a row. This has two main types of bets: inside bets (bets using numbers 0-36) and outside bets (using red or black, or on various combinations of numbers).

Upon knowing the different variations here’s the procedure on how to play roulette:

•    The player must choose what type of variation he would like to play.

•    He must purchase special roulette chips when he sits down to play. These chips will serve as his money and he can cash it once he's done playing.

•    Start making bets basing on the minimum and maximum amount. Remember: The player can not combine his inside and outside bets to meet the table minimum. However, he can still bet to the number he wants until the dealer declares “no more bets” allowed.

•    If he wins, he takes the chips intended for him and if he loses, he can still bet for another chance of winning.
